Welcome to a new lesson! Today we're going to continue talking about houses. In this case, we're going to read about a famous musician's house.

2- What is the connection between these things and Tchaikovsky's house?


3- Look at the highlighted words in the text. Then match them with definitions 1-8:


4- Tchaikovsky lived in his dream house. Let's listen to four American architecture students describing their "dream house". Which speaker's house is...?



5- Listen again and make notes about the location and special features of each house:



6- Now listen to four sentences the students said. Why do the s speakers use "would"?



7- Read the song lyrics and think about what the missing verbs could be. Then listen and complete the gaps:

SONG FACTS:
"If I could build my whole world around you" was released in 1967. It was the third single for the singing duo of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Together they had a total of seven hit singles in the late 1960s. When Terrell died aged only 24 from a brain tumor, Marvin Gaye was devastated at the loss of the singing partner he regarded as a sister.

1- Go to page 118 in the SB. Follow the instructions and examples and write a description of your house or flat for a house rental website.

Speaker 1: 
Location: in a national park like Yellowstone or Redwood.

Speaker 2:
Location: Paris.
Special features: the top floor of an old apartment building with a view of the Eiffel Tower or Notre Dame in Paris. Full of furniture from antiques markets and amazing paintings. A beautiful old dining table and chairs.

Speaker 3:
Location: SoHo on New York.
Special features: not too big a flat- a couple of bedrooms, and a very big living roo
m with a home cinema. Very modern and incredibly practical, with e.g. automatic temperature control, a kitchen with all the latest gadgets.

Speaker 4:
Location: Hawaii.
Special features: made of glass with amazing view of the beach from every room, indoor and outdoor pools, a tennis court, a big indoor aquarium, fabulous bathrooms.

The speakers use would + infinitive because they are talking about something hypothetical / imaginary, for example, their dream houses.
